The Packet ship is a civilian craft with a large hull. Packet Trade refers to any regularly scheduled cargo, passenger, and mail trade. The Packet Ship transports post office mail to and from embassies, colonies, and outposts. The Packet Ship has no offensive weaponry, armed solely with two Light Point-Defence Lancers in order to make their way past mines and hopefully avoid torpedo damage. Unfortunately this makes them easy prey for Pirates. Pirate bases can occasionally be seen modifying these craft, though it is unsure what the final design of these modifications could be.

Trivia
- Packet Ships can be seen undergoing modifications at the Pirate base in Mission 6, however there is no functional Pirate version of the Packet Ship in game. It is likely that there was originally supposed to be a usable version however, as the Packet Ship is has an unused icon.
